The Dangers of Fasting – Why it Doesn’t Help and How it Can Easily Destroy Your Health!
Lenten, for many Christians, is a time of fasting. It is believed to be a process of cleansing the soul and mind of impurities. It is also used for curing some illnesses by way of releasing toxins from our colon, lungs, stomach, kidneys, gallbladder, and blood. Skin impurities are also eliminated. Is it good for the health then?
These days, fasting is integrated in many diet plans. While it is believed to help get rid of unwanted fats the fastest way, not many are aware of the dangers involved and how it can destroy one’s health. So, how is fasting done exactly? It is done by eliminating solid foods from our normal diet. It consists of drinking water purely. However, as modern diet plans have emerged, it can now consist of drinking water with lemonade, for example. The key here is lowering calorie intake, thus helping in weight loss, and at the beginning, helping detoxify a person’s system.
Everything that is done in excess is not good. It goes the same way for fasting. When we fast for a long time, we lose not only weight; we also lose a whole lot more. And this is the part that makes as healthy–nutrients! Here is a list of health dangers associated with fasting:
- Dropping of the blood pressure level which can lead to persistent cold
- Emotional distress
- Weakening of immune defense system which can lead to sickness
- Possible dropping of the blood sugar level resulting to hypoglycemia (especially for diabetics)
- Anemia
- Malfunction of the liver
These are just some of the many dangers of fasting. While we believe that we have to detoxify our body, it still pays to be informed not only of the benefits but also about the dangers that come with it. So before trying, always consult your physician. Who knows, this information may just save your life.
