A lot of people associate aging with losing all their memories or difficulty in hearing. Actually, even though this might seem to be common among people who are aging, there are still some who are able to overcome these associated diseases of aging and go on without having those pacemakers or walkers with them.
Researchers have found out that it’s the diseases that cause aging to be feared and be linked to a lot of negative stuffs. Diseases such as Alzheimer’s, cancer, heart disease, and stroke are some of the diseases associated with aging. Actually, those who have no age related diseases can live independently and on their own very well even after they have reached an old age.
Apparently, there are a lot of misconceptions associated with aging. Aging is a normal process and should not be associated with a lot of things. To give you ideas, here are some of the myths about aging.
People believed that when you reach the old age, you need to lose weight than your ideal weight. Actually, it would be helpful to have at least some extra weight when you age. Keep in mind that when you age, your fat stores will be depleted as well as your water stores.
Some think that when you grow old, your personality will also change. Aging doesn’t affect a person’s personality. Thus, if you are a happy and positive person in your early life, then there won’t be changes when you reach your late adulthood.
You would require a hearing aid when you age. People believe that you’ll go deaf when you age, so you would need a hearing aid. Actually, even though some hearing loss is expected and is part of aging, this doesn’t equate to complete deafness and reliance to hearing aids.
Loss of memory is inevitable in aging. Again, people would think that memory loss and aging go hand in hand and can’t be avoided. Actually, this is not true but there may really be some degrees of decreased memory functioning but it don’t necessarily mean that you’ll completely lose it.
In order to fight the diseases associated with aging, it would be best to keep your body active and start doing it while you’re young. You can try exercising on a Swiss ball and keep your body active.
