To lose weight and not to regain it, you need changes in the way you think, eat and exercise. Here we are to help you with this. We will let you know how to lose 30 lbs in just 2 weeks! Read below to know how.
Eat healthy!
According to Dr Ricardo Uauy, chairman of the World Health Organisation expert group and professor of public health nutrition at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, “People should eat less high-calorie foods, especially foods high in saturated fat and sugar, be physically active, prefer unsaturated for saturated fat and use less salt; enjoy fruits, vegetables and legumes and prefer foods of plant and marine origin.”
A team of scientists from the WHO made an intensive study on obesity and overweight, and reported their research. As per the report, rise in obesity levels and chronic diseases worldwide is a result of consumption of processed products. The report urges people to cut off foods high in salt, sugar and saturated fats; to consume more fruits and vegetables; and to exercise more. The report further specifies the amount of nutrients that are to be consumed on a daily basis to live a vital and healthy life. It recommends
- carbohydrates – between 55% and 75% of diet
- free sugars – beneath 10%
- protein – between 10% and 15%
- Fat – between 15% and 30% and saturated fat – less than 10% of this total.
- Salt – less than five grams a day
- Fruit and vegetables – 400 grams a day.
Apart from taking healthy foods, you have to drink eight glasses of water a day in order to lose weight. Don’t take all of it at one single go. Spread it throughout the day. It is unhealthy to drink too much water at one time.
Keep yourself hydrated. Drink water even before you feel thirsty. If you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated. Your body needs a lot of water to do its daily functions of metabolising stored fat, flushing off toxins, homeostasis, transportation of nutrients, etc.
When you drink all the water that you need, you will feel your appetite go down even from the very first day you begin!
You may also drink low fat milk, green tea, vegetable juice and whey protein in order to lose weight. However, these should never be substitutes for water.
Work out!
The report generated by WHO further said that physical activity is an important part of staying healthy, and it suggests a physical activity of moderate intensity at least one hour a day.
Physical activity is the key for fitness and health. Exercising for more than an hour in doing intensive aerobic and strength exercises, will keep diseases and disorders such as cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, cholesterol levels, hypertension, cancer, arthritis, sleep apnea, strokes, brain damage and diabetes at bay. Running, rowing, cycling, swimming and hiking are good exercises that help burning calories fast. You may use a gym or do some at home weight loss exercises like push ups, pull ups, weight squats, step ups, plank and stick ups.
Exercising vigorously produces more effective results than the moderate ones. Stick to strict disciplines when it comes to your exercise routines; in terms of timing, duration and place of work out. Always warm up before exercising. Warming up before exercising will prepare you both mentally and physically, reduce the chance of getting injured, and help you workout for a prolonged period. The aim of warming up is to increase blood circulation.
Also, don’t forget to cool down after exercising. Keep record of your exercises in writing. Keep in mind that exercising within two hours after a meal is not good. In case you experience any abnormal symptoms, such as irregular heartbeats, excessive shortness of breath or light headedness, stop exercising and take rest. If the symptoms persist for more than a few minutes, immediately consult a heart specialist.
Think positive!
If you want your weight loss efforts to turn successful, then you need to change the way you think about it. Having the right attitude is important!
A subconscious choice to stay overweight will make you stay overweight all your life. Good choices bring about positive results. Adopt a positive “I can do it” attitude.
A positive attitude brings optimism into your life and helps you cope up with your life with ease. Avoid worrying and negative thinking. A positive attitude will bring constructive changes in whatever you aim at. It plays the vital most role in making you succeed.
Try looking at the brighter side of everything. It will help you develop and strengthen inwardly.
A positive attitude manifests itself as positive thinking, constructive thinking, creative thinking, expecting success, inspiration, happiness, seeing opportunities in difficulties, believing in yourself, and displaying confidence.
Adopting a positive attitude, along with the other measures you take to lose weight, will help you maximise weight loss.
